On Friday, April 16, Westfall had a virtual Future Problem Solvers Ohio State Bowl in the WMS library. Seven teams, 27 students, competed against teams from across the state of Ohio. They were invited to compete based on their qualifying booklet about Human Environmental Impact. For the State Bowl, each team wrote an eleven-page booklet in two hours on the topic of Personalized Medicine.

School Lunch Hero Day showcases the professionals who serve our students each day. This year, our Food Services staff has gone above & beyond the call of duty. Today is School Bus Driver Appreciation Day! Our bus drivers play an important role in the safety of our students. They dedicate their time and talent to ensure our students are transported safely to and from school and activities each day. They are unsung heroes in our Westfall community, and we appreciate them not only today but every day!
Teachers inspire curiosity and a lifelong love of learning. In the past year, they persevered despite the challenges thrown their way amid the COVID-19 pandemic. While thanking teachers should not be a once-a-year event, we have an opportunity with Teacher Appreciation Week, May 3-7, to share our gratitude. 8th graders only, the WMS Student Council and Westfall Education Foundation is sponsoring this year's 8th grade semi-formal dance, "A Night in Italy". There is no cost to attend and it will be held on Thursday, May 20th from 6pm-8pm at the WMS Gymnasium. Dinner will be catered by Olive Garden and a DJ will provide the music. School appropriate attire is required and no jeans or t-shirts and dresses cannot be floor length, strapless or show any bare mid-section. Today, we celebrate Administrative Professionals' Day! We are happy to share this special day with our incredible team of administrative support staff. We want to take a moment and thank these six individuals for their hard work and dedication to Westfall Local Schools. Janet Adams (WES), Carole Moore (WES), Tish Chenoweth (WMS), Liz Durflinger (WHS), Tammee Kaminski (WHS Guidance), and Paula Dumm (District).
These six ladies are the glue that helps keep our school together! They keep our buildings running smoothly, make sure students are where they are supposed to be, and always provide a friendly face for parents and community members when they enter our school.

Art continues to play a critical role in students' social and emotional learning as well as in the development of problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Youth Art Month festivities help to highlight the innovative work of both students and educators.
Each week throughout March, we will highlight artwork showcased in State and Central Ohio Region virtual art exhibitions in recognition of Youth Art Month.
Westfall has seven teams invited to compete at the Future Problem Solving (FPS) State Bowl based on their booklet about Human Environmental Impact. It will be a virtual bowl held on Friday, April 16. There are three sixth-grade teams, three eighth-grade teams, and one HS team.

Ms. Wolfe's Kindergarten class walked over to the middle school yesterday to deliver over 2,600 plastic bottle caps and lids, donating them toward the recycling project that transforms them into benches that will last a lifetime. The true value comes from the profound experience that children can make a difference! They can see, sit on, and donate to their community the very results of their work, which is the most-perfect-real-life example of sustainability. Great job, Mustangs!
