Our School Resource Officer, Deputy Hamlin, visited Miss Haberthier's preschool class today to read to them during storytime. It was a wonderful opportunity for the students to learn about the importance of safety and community.
A Storytime Surprise! Our wonderful principals, Mrs. Patterson and Mrs. Wolfe, visited Miss Haberthier's preschool classes to read to her students, but they got a delightful surprise of their own! Instead of a regular book, they were gifted a personalized story featuring their very own pictures!
To top it off, her students presented them with a beautiful book filled with their own artwork, thanking them for all they do for Westfall Elementary! It was so heartwarming to see the joy on everyone's faces as they shared their creations. Thank you, Mrs. Patterson and Mrs. Wolfe, for inspiring our students every day, and thank you, Miss Haberthier, for your thoughtfulness and creativity!
Our WHS Cheerleaders became cheer-READERS this morning, visiting several classrooms and sharing stories with our elementary students. Being a student-athlete comes with many responsibilities, and one of the most rewarding aspects is the opportunity to be a role model for younger students. Thank you, Coach Layne and Cheerleaders, for inspiring a love of literacy in our school community!

Westfall Elementary's Field of Dreams Committee is hosting "Christmas in October," a silent auction for theme-decorated Christmas trees in memory of beloved colleague Cindy McCoy. The WES staff will decorate trees and be available at a silent auction. This year, our trees are in memory of beloved Westfall colleague Cindy McCoy. Cindy is a former 2nd-grade teacher who taught for over 25 years at Westfall Elementary. Shortly after retiring in 2011, she was diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). Cindy fought a courageous battle with this brutal disease for years before passing away in November 2021. A portion of the proceeds from this fundraiser will be donated to The ALS Association in her memory.
How will the auction work?
Pictures of the decorated trees will be posted on the WES Facebook page by Wednesday, October 23, or sooner. Bidding can begin there but will continue in person during Trunk or Treat on Wednesday, October 30. You do not have to be present to win but to ensure a win, you will want to be present when the auction ends at 7:00 PM. Payment will be due when you pick up the tree. (cash or checks written to WEF-FOD) If you win the bid on Facebook, someone will contact you within a day or two of the auction to arrange pickup of your tree.
Thank you for supporting Field of Dreams and helping us honor Cindy's love for the Westfall community and school!
Yesterday was a "pawsitively" amazing day at Westfall Elementary School! Randy, a therapy dog from the Pickaway County Sheriff's Office, along with handler Chase Bergoon, brought smiles to students as he visited the classrooms. Randy, like many specially trained therapy dogs, offers emotional support and companionship to those facing trauma, stress, or grief, helping to reduce anxiety and enhance well-being. Thank you, Randy and Chase, for making such a wonderful impact!
